If you already have a folder named like this, choose a different name. Note: in this example I create a pics folder and remove it afterwards. To unmount the folder, use fusermount: fusermount -u ~/pics & rmdir ~/pics The images are now available in your $HOME folder under pics. Now you can use ifuse to mount your iOS images folder: mkdir ~/pics & ifuse ~/pics If you get a SUCCESS message, you are good, if not run idevicepair pair. Now connect your device and make sure it is paired with your computer. Historical workaroundĪs a workaround, you can mount your iOS device with ifuse. If you need to access these folders from the command line, you can find them in $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR/gvfs (this this answer for a more detailed explanation). You should now see your iDevices system folders, including DCIM.

There is a propblem with the Gnome integration, though. The other factor could be i have D800 photos nef and jpg in my phone data which are 35Megapixel in size.This version of Ubuntu has the latest libimobiledevice (at the time of release) so it supports iOS 11.4. and it could be that togging that off and restarting the process is at least making the list of photos populate better, but thumbnails are not refresshing very fast. For others, while the DCIM folder is visible, it’s empty and doesn’t show any photo.
another thing i noticed, is my phone connected to computer might not be acting right if i had mobile hotspot enabled. Sadly, for some users, the DCIM folder doesn’t show up on PC when connected to the iPhone or iPad. I'm guessing lightroom is having trouble with larges number of files. the windows import claims about 4183 new pictures. So i exited lightroom, opened it up it delays a minute without saying no photos found, and now it seems to be populating the all photos window in middle with them selected. mov files clearly there, but lightroom isnt' finding them. when browsing phones folder in explorer it appears to have normal files in it, a top level DCIM and 100Cloud, 102Apple and some other similar folders xxxApple folders with. When I select Apple Iphone on left devices in import screen, it says no photosfound in middle of the copy screen, import button is greyed out. I rarely have tried this before but I noticed with my Iphone X i can browse the device in file explore and windows 10 import finds phjotos.
